"Drinking alone under the moon"

2024 - H1090×W330

The Chinese poem surrounding the moon is Li Bai's "Drinking alone under the moon."

Drinking alone among the flowers, there is no way to be friendly. Raising our cups to greet the bright moon, we become three people facing the shadow. The moon can't understand the point of drinking and the shadow unnecessarily follows me. For a while, accompanied by the moon and the shadow, our outing must reach spring. When I sing, the moon wanders around, and when I dance, the shadow becomes chaotic. When we wake up, we enjoy the same company, but after getting drunk, we each disperse. We are non-human playmates forever bound together. Our promised meeting place is far beyond the Milky Way.
